THE VDAY-NITE

14 February 2019

Hosted by the infamous MUFFIN HOUSE in collaboration with the Aléatoire, this is a Valentines soirée unlike any other.

Unsurprisingly, couples are banned from the site. Perhaps more surprisingly, guests are required to arrive dressed in lingerie.

Other expected highlights:

  • Exclusively red and pink beverages including JNSQ rosé, cotton candy heart martinis, steaming Shirley Temples, and sparkling greyhounds.

  • Astrological séances which will involve zodiac matchmaking and uninhibited psychoanalysis.

  • Seductive tunes ranging from Sade to Rihanna to the Internet.

  • The classic spread of French candles, which may produce a fire hazard.

  • Vegan chocolates and ice cream will be available in case of emergency situations, i.e., you saw your ex’s instagram story and they’re with a new significant other at a lovely dinner, and you’re here at this horrendous Valentines day-nite party with 30 other single people crying over their exes.

THE HOLIDAY PARTY

1 December 2018

The first Aléatoire holiday party to celebrate the last Berkeley winter.

Juxtaposed against the bleak backdrop of uncertain futures, grim weather, and the Berkeley Lifestyle, this was an evening of holiday splendor, college students in cocktail attire, and Feu du Bois lingering in the air.

Another successful event which brought together many familiar and unfamiliar faces, and which embodied the collaborative nature of The Aléatoire.

THE DINNER

17 March 2018

I am pleased to announce that The Aléatoire will be hosting its first community dinner at Chez Globe in Bethnal Green, London. The whole point of this online space is to bring people together, and as my pal Sam Blanco proposed brilliantly, what better way to do that than a dinner?

"The Dinner" goes back to my tradition of Jazz and Wine nights at the BIG house in Berkeley, California, where strangers meet and mingle, guests indulge in homemade vegan delights, and music is mixed from far and wide. These nights have brought many unlikely friends together, tremendous cooking disasters as well as successes, and tonnes of actually unbelievable stories. Genuinely wonderful times.

Though I'm not in Berkeley, and though it may not be the same, it only seems fitting to bring a little piece of home over a whole continent and across The Pond, especially in the beginnings of a project I hold so close to my heart. So if you find yourself in this grey city on Saturday, March 17, do RSVP (aleatoiremag@gmail.com) and bring whatever you'd like to share, be it a beat, a video clip, a dish, color, or a book!
